Overview

Anser anser feather extract is a non-standardized allergenic product derived from the feathers of the greylag goose. [1-1] It is labeled by Greer Laboratories, Inc. and marketed under the brand name "Goose Feathers". [1-1, 1-2] The extract is available as a solution at a concentration of 0.05 g/mL for diagnostic and therapeutic use. [1-1, 1-3, 7] Its primary indication is for the in vivo diagnosis of allergies to goose feathers through skin testing (percutaneous or intradermal). [2, 7] In sensitized individuals, application of the extract triggers a localized allergic reaction. It is also indicated for use in allergen immunotherapy (hyposensitization) to reduce allergic symptoms in patients with confirmed sensitivity. [4, 7]
