Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anshen Dingzhi prescription is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula used primarily for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other panic-related mental disorders. It is documented in historical TCM texts like “Yi Xue Xin Wu” and has been used to calm the mind and settle emotions. The formula typically contains multiple herbal ingredients including poria cocos (Fu Ling), polygalae radix (Yuan Zhi), ginseng radix (Ren Shen), acori rhizoma (Shi Chang Pu), among others. Mechanistically, it appears to exert its effects by modulating inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels, and regulating serum cortisol. Clinical studies suggest efficacy in reducing symptoms of PTSD and improving sleep quality with a favorable safety profile[1][5][6]. In TCM theory, it is said to tonify Heart-Qi and calm the spirit[2][3].
