Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ANT-1207 is a topical liniment formulation of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT/A) developed for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis. Originally developed by Anterios as NTS-1207, the candidate was acquired by Allergan in 2016. The product utilizes a proprietary Nano-Transfection System (NTS) delivery technology designed to enable the large botulinum toxin molecule to penetrate the skin without the need for injections. Once delivered to the eccrine sweat glands, the toxin acts as a protease that cleaves the synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25), a key component of the SNARE complex. This cleavage inhibits the release of acetylcholine from sympathetic nerve endings, thereby reducing sweat production in the treated area. Development of ANT-1207 reached Phase 2 clinical trials before being discontinued by Allergan (now part of AbbVie).
