It is a SNAP25 inhibitor, targeting the synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP25), and is classified as a botulinum neurotoxin type A product. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting SNAP25, which plays a key role in neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions. ANT-1401 has been investigated for cosmetic indications such as crow's feet and lateral canthal lines (facial wrinkles) in completed Phase 2 clinical trials[1][7]. The drug acts similarly to other botulinum toxin products by blocking acetylcholine release, resulting in temporary muscle relaxation.
