Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Antareit is a combination antacid and carminative medication developed by Valenta Pharm JSC. It contains two active ingredients: magaldrate (an aluminum magnesium hydroxide sulfate complex) and simethicone. Magaldrate works by neutralizing free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, thereby increasing gastric pH and providing relief from acid-related symptoms without causing secondary gastric juice hypersecretion. Simethicone acts as a surfactant that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their coalescence and expulsion to relieve bloating and flatulence. Antareit is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acid-dependent gastrointestinal diseases, including heartburn, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and reflux esophagitis. It is available as chewable tablets in multiple strengths.
