Overview

A combination therapy consisting of anthracycline chemotherapy agents and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid. Anthracyclines (such as doxorubicin, daunorubicin, and idarubicin) are cytotoxic agents that intercalate DNA and inhibit topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and cell death. Dexamethasone is primarily used in this combination as an antiemetic to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). This combination is commonly used in the treatment of breast cancer and acute myelogenous leukemia.
