Overview
Anthrax immune globulin human is a purified polyclonal antibody preparation derived from the plasma of healthy donors immunized with BioThrax (anthrax vaccine adsorbed). It contains high titers of IgG antibodies that specifically bind to the protective antigen (PA) component of *Bacillus anthracis* toxins. The drug acts as a passive immunizing agent by neutralizing anthrax toxin through binding to PA and preventing PA-mediated cellular entry of lethal and edema factors. It does not have direct antibacterial activity against *B. anthracis* and is administered in combination with appropriate antibiotic therapy for the treatment of inhalational anthrax in adults and children[2][3][4][5]. The product is available under the brand name Anthrasil.
