Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anthrax rPA vaccine is an investigational recombinant protein vaccine consisting of purified recombinant protective antigen (rPA) from Bacillus anthracis designed to elicit high-titer neutralizing antibodies that block protective antigen binding and pore formation required for entry of lethal and edema toxins into host cells. As a next-generation anthrax vaccine, it was developed to improve immunogenicity, consistency of manufacturing, and safety compared with cell-free filtrate anthrax vaccine adsorbed (AVA), and has been evaluated primarily for pre‑ and post‑exposure prophylaxis against inhalational anthrax in adults at risk of exposure to Bacillus anthracis.
