anti-κ CAR-T is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the immunoglobulin kappa (κ) light chain. Developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, this cell therapy is designed for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma whose malignant plasma cells express the κ light chain. The treatment involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes and binds to the κ light chain on the surface of cancerous plasma cells. This targeted approach aims to selectively eliminate the malignant clone while sparing normal B cells and plasma cells that express the lambda (λ) light chain, potentially preserving some level of humoral immune function and reducing the breadth of B-cell aplasia compared to pan-B-cell targets. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China.
