Overview
The anti-AXL antibody is a monoclonal antibody being developed by Anhui Sinobioway Medicine, a subsidiary of the Beijing Sinobioway Group, for the treatment of various cancers. It specifically targets the AXL receptor tyrosine kinase, a member of the TAM (Tyro3, AXL, Mer) family. AXL is frequently overexpressed in multiple malignancies, where it plays a critical role in promoting tumor cell survival, proliferation, metastasis, and the development of resistance to conventional therapies. By binding to the extracellular domain of AXL, the antibody aims to inhibit receptor activation—typically triggered by its ligand, GAS6—and subsequent downstream signaling pathways such as PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK. This therapeutic approach is intended to suppress epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and enhance the efficacy of other anti-cancer treatments in patients with advanced solid tumors.
