Drug intelligence / Profile preview
anti-BCMA CAR NK cells (IL-15-armored) is an engineered allogeneic natural killer (NK) cell therapy designed to target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) for the treatment of multiple myeloma. The therapy utilizes NK cells genetically modified with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific to BCMA, a protein highly expressed on malignant plasma cells. To overcome the typical limitation of poor in vivo persistence associated with NK cell therapies, these cells are 'armored' by co-expressing interleukin-15 (IL-15), a cytokine that promotes NK cell survival, proliferation, and sustained cytotoxic activity. Preclinical studies conducted by Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital and Vaxcell-Bio have demonstrated that IL-15-armored anti-BCMA CAR NK cells exhibit enhanced long-term persistence and superior anti-tumor efficacy compared to non-armored counterparts in multiple myeloma models.
