Overview

anti-BCMA CAR-T (Xuzhou Medical University) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. Developed as an investigator-initiated therapy at Xuzhou Medical University, this cell therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes and binds to BCMA, leading to T-cell activation and the subsequent lysis of myeloma cells. It is primarily being investigated for the treatment of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). Clinical protocols evaluate its use as a consolidation therapy following induction with regimens such as VRd (bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone) or DVRd (daratumumab plus VRd), targeting both transplant-ineligible patients and transplant-eligible patients as a potential alternative to autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT).
