Overview

Anti-BCMA-CD19 CAR-T cells are an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered to simultaneously target two distinct antigens: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and CD19. Developed by The Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, this dual-targeting approach is designed to achieve a more comprehensive depletion of the B-cell lineage than single-target therapies. CD19 is a well-established marker for B cells, while BCMA is predominantly expressed on long-lived plasma cells, which are the primary source of pathogenic autoantibodies in many autoimmune conditions. By eliminating both B cells and plasma cells, the therapy aims to 'reset' the immune system in patients with refractory autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), myasthenia gravis (MG), and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).
