Overview
Stadius Biopharma, a subsidiary of Autoimmune Technologies, is developing a program of fully human recombinant monoclonal antibodies for the treatment and prophylaxis of disseminated candidiasis. These antibodies are designed to target and disrupt the function of conserved sequences within the Candida albicans cell wall-associated proteins fructose-bisphosphate aldolase (Fba) and 5-methyltetrahydropteroyltriglutamate-homocysteine methyltransferase (MET6). These proteins are novel virulence factors associated with the pathology of various Candida species, including C. albicans and C. auris. In addition to traditional administration, the company is developing a non-viral gene-modified somatic stem cell platform (using adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells) to deliver these antibodies continuously in chronically immunocompromised patients. The program is currently in preclinical development.
