Overview

Anti-Candida IgY is a biologic antibody therapy being developed by the Immunology Research Institute in Gifu (IRIG) for the prevention and treatment of candidiasis. The product consists of immunoglobulin Y (IgY) antibodies extracted from the yolks of eggs laid by chickens immunized with *Candida albicans* antigens. Its mechanism of action involves specifically binding to *C. albicans* to block its adherence to host cells, thereby interfering with fungal colonization, growth, and virulence. Research has demonstrated that this antibody significantly reduces the adherence capacity of the fungus to human cells in a dose-dependent manner. It is primarily being investigated for the management of mucosal and cutaneous infections and is currently in the preclinical research stage.
