Overview

Anti-CCL22 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize C-C motif chemokine 22 (CCL22), also known as macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC). CCL22 is a ligand for the CCR4 receptor and plays a critical role in the recruitment of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and Th2 cells to sites of inflammation or into the tumor microenvironment. In the context of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA), elevated levels of CCL22 are associated with imbalances in Treg populations. Research indicates that neutralizing CCL22 can increase the number and function of CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ Tregs via the STAT5 signaling pathway, potentially restoring immune tolerance. In oncology, anti-CCL22 antibodies are investigated for their potential to deplete immunosuppressive Tregs within tumors, thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. While primarily used as a research tool to probe the CCL22-CCR4 axis, it represents a therapeutic strategy for both autoimmune disorders and cancer immunotherapy.
