anti-CCL6 antibody

An anti-CCL6 antibody is a neutralizing monoclonal antibody designed to target C-C motif chemokine ligand 6 (CCL6). In preclinical research concerning Crohn's disease, CCL6 has been identified as a critical pro-fibrotic mediator secreted by a specific subset of S100A8/A9-high macrophages. These macrophages activate intestinal fibroblasts via the CCL6-CCR1 signaling axis, driving the progression of intestinal fibrosis. By binding to and neutralizing CCL6, the antibody prevents its interaction with the CCR1 receptor, thereby inhibiting fibroblast activation and relieving established fibrosis in murine models of chronic colitis. While CCL6 is specific to rodents, its human ortholog is CCL15, which exerts comparable pro-fibrotic effects through the same CCR1 receptor, suggesting that targeting this axis may be a viable therapeutic strategy for treating fibrostenotic Crohn's disease in humans.
