Anti-CCL8 antibody (such as the preclinical clone 1G3E5) is a biologic therapeutic (monoclonal antibody) that targets C-C motif chemokine ligand 8 (CCL8, also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein-2 or MCP-2). CCL8 is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that recruits immune cells (including macrophages, CD8+ T cells, and NK cells) to sites of injury and tumor microenvironments by binding to receptors like CCR2, CCR5, and CCR8. Developed primarily by researchers at the University of South Carolina, anti-CCL8 antibodies are being investigated for the treatment of acute lung injury (including inflammation and long-term fibrosis caused by infectious agents like SARS-CoV-2), myocardial infarction (to reduce adverse cardiac remodeling), and breast cancer (where CCL8 gradients drive epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metastasis).
