Overview

Anti-CD123 CAR-T cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target cells expressing CD123 (interleukin-3 receptor alpha chain). Developed by Southwest Hospital in China, this cell therapy is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory myeloid malignancies, such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The treatment process involves the ex vivo genetic modification of autologous T cells to express a CAR specific for CD123, followed by lymphodepleting chemotherapy and re-infusion into the patient to induce targeted tumor cell lysis. The therapy aims to exploit the high expression of CD123 on leukemic blasts and leukemic stem cells to achieve deep clinical responses in patients who have failed standard therapies.
