Overview

Anti-CD15 antibody refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies that target CD15 (also known as Lewis X or 3-fucosyl-N-acetyllactosamine), a carbohydrate antigen frequently expressed on the surface of mature myeloid cells and certain malignant cells. In the context of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), CD15 expression is linked to aggressive disease features, including higher blast counts, increased risk of extramedullary infiltration (such as central nervous system involvement), and poor overall survival. Mechanistically, anti-CD15 antibodies are being investigated for their ability to block the migration and invasion of leukemic cells and potentially restore NK cell-mediated immunity, which is often impaired in CD15-positive AML. While currently used as a research tool and diagnostic biomarker, it is considered a candidate therapeutic target for risk-stratified treatment in AML.
