Overview

Anti-CD19-CAR γδT is a form of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy in which human gamma delta (γδ) T lymphocytes are genetically engineered to express a CAR targeting the B-cell surface antigen CD19. Upon administration, these modified γδ T cells selectively bind to and kill tumor cells expressing CD19, such as those found in B-cell malignancies. Unlike conventional αβ CAR-T therapies, γδ CAR-Ts may offer advantages including MHC-independent recognition (reducing risk of graft-versus-host disease), potential for allogeneic "off-the-shelf" use, and the ability to target both CD19-positive and some antigen-negative leukemic populations due to their innate cytotoxicity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated effective expansion and cytotoxicity against CD19+ cell lines in vitro and in vivo[2][3]. Clinical development is ongoing for relapsed/refractory B-cell malignancies[1][4].
