Overview

A combination immunotherapy consisting of two distinct chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) products—one targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and the other targeting cluster of differentiation 19 (CD19). This approach is designed to treat relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma by simultaneously attacking malignant plasma cells expressing BCMA and rare myeloma progenitor cells that may express CD19. The rationale for this combination is to improve response rates, reduce relapse due to antigen escape, and achieve deeper remissions compared to single-antigen targeted therapies. Clinical studies have demonstrated high overall response rates but also notable hematologic toxicity and cytokine release syndrome. The therapy remains investigational with ongoing clinical trials evaluating its efficacy as both salvage treatment in relapsed/refractory disease and as consolidation in high-risk newly diagnosed patients[1][3][4].
