Drug intelligence / Profile preview
anti-CD19 CAR-T cells (foamy virus vector) is an investigational, allogeneic, 'off-the-shelf' chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. Developed by researchers at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens and the University of Thessaly, this cell therapy is engineered using a foamy virus (FV) vector rather than conventional lentiviral or retroviral vectors. Foamy virus vectors are non-pathogenic retroviruses characterized by a safe integration profile, reduced risk of insertional mutagenesis, and a large transgene packaging capacity. The therapy targets B-lymphocyte antigen CD19, a cell surface protein highly expressed on B-cell malignancies, and has demonstrated potent in vitro cytotoxicity against CD19-positive lymphoma cell lines.
