Investigational autologous anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed at University College London (UCL). This biologic immunotherapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T lymphocytes to express a CAR that targets the CD19 protein, a surface marker found on B-cell lymphomas. The CAR construct utilizes an FMC63-derived single-chain variable fragment (scFv) for antigen recognition. The therapy is currently being evaluated in the Phase 1 COBALT clinical trial, which investigates its safety and efficacy as a bridge to allogeneic stem cell transplantation in patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who have failed or are ineligible for autologous stem cell transplant.
