Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A bispecific monoclonal antibody that targets both CD3 on cytotoxic T lymphocytes and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) on tumor cells. By binding to CD3, it activates and redirects T cells to recognize and kill HER2-expressing tumor cells, resulting in CTL-mediated cytotoxicity. The drug has been investigated in various forms, including as a heteroconjugate of OKT3 (anti-CD3) and trastuzumab (anti-HER2), for the treatment of cancers such as metastatic breast cancer. Clinical studies have evaluated its use both as a direct agent and by arming activated T cells with the bispecific antibody for adoptive cell therapy[1][4][5][6].
