Anti-CD30 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are a form of cell therapy in which a patient's own T lymphocytes are genetically engineered to express a synthetic receptor that specifically recognizes the CD30 antigen. CD30 is highly expressed on the surface of malignant Hodgkin and some non-Hodgkin lymphoma cells. Upon infusion, these modified T cells seek out and destroy tumor cells expressing CD30 through direct cytotoxicity. This therapy has been investigated primarily for relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma, especially in patients who have failed multiple prior lines of treatment[1][3]. The mechanism involves immune-mediated killing via redirected cytotoxicity against CD30-expressing tumor targets.
