Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-CD38 pretreated allogeneic NK cells (also referred to as PBNK-CD38- cells) is an investigational allogeneic natural killer (NK) cell therapy being developed for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Developed by PrimeCell Advanced Therapy in collaboration with the University of Ostrava and other partners, the therapy involves expanding peripheral blood-derived NK (PBNK) cells and pretreating them in vitro with an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody (such as daratumumab). This pretreatment selectively induces the fratricide of CD38-positive NK cells, yielding a homogeneous population of CD38-negative NK cells. By eliminating CD38 expression on the effector NK cells, this approach prevents self-destruction (fratricide) when the cells are co-administered with anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies, thereby enhancing antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) against CD38-expressing multiple myeloma cells.
