Overview

This drug is an experimental research tool consisting of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) targeted to CD38-expressing cells, such as multiple myeloma plasma cells. The LNPs are functionalized with an anti-CD38 antibody and encapsulate a negative control small interfering RNA (siRNA) that does not target any known gene. Developed for preclinical studies, this construct allows researchers to evaluate the efficiency of the CD38-targeted delivery system and control for any non-specific biological effects caused by the nanoparticle vehicle or the antibody itself. It is primarily used in the context of developing RNA-based therapies for multiple myeloma to ensure that therapeutic results from active siRNA payloads are due to specific gene knockdown.
