Overview

Anti-CD56 CAR T is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered to target the CD56 antigen (also known as neural cell adhesion molecule, NCAM), which is highly expressed on the surface of several tumor types including neuroblastoma, glioma, small cell lung cancer (SCLC), natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL), NK cell leukemia, and some cases of rhabdomyosarcoma. The therapy involves isolating a patient's own T cells and genetically modifying them ex vivo to express a synthetic receptor that specifically binds to the CD56 antigen. Once infused back into the patient, these modified T cells recognize and kill CD56-positive tumor cells. Anti-CD56 CAR T has shown promising safety and efficacy in early clinical studies for relapsed/refractory solid tumors and hematologic malignancies expressing CD56[1][2][7]. It may be considered for patients who are nonresponsive to conventional therapies or unsuitable for stem cell transplantation[1].
