Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-CD84 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target CD84 (also known as SLAMF5), a cell surface receptor belonging to the signaling lymphocytic activation molecule (SLAM) family. CD84 is expressed on various immune cells, including B cells, T cells, monocytes, macrophages, and platelets, and is overexpressed in several hematologic malignancies (such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, multiple myeloma, and acute myeloid leukemia) as well as on immunosuppressive cells within the tumor microenvironment. Ligation or blockade of CD84 can modulate immune cell survival, cytokine production, and cellular interactions. In preclinical research, anti-CD84 antibodies have been investigated for their ability to disrupt immunosuppressive pathways, reduce type 2 cytokine secretion (such as IL-5 and IL-13) in inflammatory contexts like asthma, and serve as targeting moieties for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies in hematological cancers.
