Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-CDH11 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and block cadherin-11 (CDH11), a type II classical cadherin that mediates calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. CDH11 is primarily expressed in mesenchymal cells, such as synovial fibroblasts and osteoblasts, and plays a critical role in tissue remodeling, inflammation, and cancer progression. In inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, CDH11-expressing synovial fibroblasts drive joint destruction, and blocking CDH11 has been investigated to reduce inflammation and bone erosion. In oncology, CDH11 is associated with tumor invasion, metastasis (particularly bone metastasis), and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Preclinical studies suggest that CDH11 blockade can inhibit cancer cell invasiveness, suppress tumor growth, and promote pyroptosis-mediated anti-tumor immunity. While clinical candidates like RG6125 (SDP051) have been evaluated in clinical trials for rheumatoid arthritis, development was discontinued due to lack of efficacy, though CDH11 remains an active target of interest in both inflammatory diseases and oncology.
