anti-CEA-800 is a humanized monoclonal antibody-dye conjugate developed for fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS). It consists of a humanized monoclonal antibody (clone hM5A) that specifically targets carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA/CEACAM5), covalently conjugated to the near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent fluorophore IRDye 800CW. CEA is a cell-surface glycoprotein that is highly overexpressed in various solid tumors, including pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric adenocarcinomas, while maintaining limited expression in normal adult tissues. By binding specifically to CEA-positive tumor cells, anti-CEA-800 enables real-time intraoperative visualization of primary tumors, positive surgical margins, and occult metastases using NIR imaging systems. The 800nm emission wavelength provides superior tissue penetration and minimal background autofluorescence compared to visible light or shorter-wavelength dyes, potentially improving the completeness of oncologic resections.
