Overview

Anti-CEA CAR-T cells (China Medical University) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA), also known as CEACAM5. CEA is a cell-surface glycoprotein that is overexpressed in a variety of solid tumors, particularly those of the gastrointestinal tract, such as colorectal, pancreatic, and gastric cancers. The therapy involves the ex vivo genetic modification of a patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) to express a CAR that recognizes CEA. Upon re-infusion into the patient following lymphodepleting chemotherapy, these engineered T cells are designed to specifically bind to CEA-expressing tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation, proliferation, and the subsequent lysis of the cancer cells. This candidate is currently being investigated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for patients with CEA-positive locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
