Overview

The anti-CGC antibody is a humanized monoclonal antibody being developed by SinoMab BioScience for the treatment of autoimmune dermatological conditions, specifically vitiligo and alopecia areata. It targets the common gamma chain (γc, also known as CD132), which is a shared receptor subunit for several key cytokines, including IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21. By antagonizing this common signaling component, the antibody inhibits the activation and proliferation of B cells, T cells, and natural killer (NK) cells that drive the inflammatory and autoimmune processes in the skin and hair follicles. As of early 2024, the drug is in the IND-enabling stage, preparing for clinical evaluation as a first-in-class therapeutic approach for its target indications.
