Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-chaperone scFv antibodies are recombinant single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies designed to target the essential post-translocation secretion chaperones PrsA1 and PrsA2 in Gram-positive pathogens, specifically *Listeria monocytogenes* and *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. Developed by researchers at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Pittsburgh, these antibodies are generated using in vitro combinatorial ribosome display libraries derived from immunized mice. By binding to the surface-exposed chaperone proteins PrsA1 and PrsA2, these scFv antibodies aim to inhibit the secretion of bacterial virulence factors (such as listeriolysin O) and increase susceptibility to antibiotics, offering a potential therapeutic strategy against multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacterial infections.
