Overview

Anti-CSF1 antibodies are a class of monoclonal antibodies designed to target and neutralize the Colony Stimulating Factor 1 (CSF1) ligand, also known as macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF). CSF1 is a key cytokine that regulates the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of macrophages and monocytes. In many cancers, including melanoma, CSF1 is overexpressed and contributes to the recruitment of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), which promote an immunosuppressive environment, tumor invasion, and metastasis. By binding to CSF1, these antibodies prevent its interaction with the CSF1 receptor (CSF1R/CD115), thereby inhibiting the pro-tumorigenic signaling pathways. Preclinical research has shown that anti-CSF1 antibodies can decrease the invasiveness of malignant cells and may work synergistically with other targeted therapies, such as BRAF inhibitors, to suppress tumor growth.
