Overview

Anti-CTLA-4 IgG2b is a research-grade monoclonal antibody of the mouse IgG2b isotype that targets Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte Antigen-4 (CTLA-4, also known as CD152). It is primarily utilized in preclinical research, particularly in mouse models, to investigate the role of Fc-receptor engagement in anti-tumor immunity. Unlike other isotypes, the IgG2b backbone is often used as a surrogate to study specific Fc-mediated effector functions, such as the depletion of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and the activation of myeloid cells within the tumor microenvironment. This antibody acts as a checkpoint inhibitor by blocking the interaction between CTLA-4 and its ligands (B7-1 and B7-2), thereby enhancing T-cell activation. It is not intended for human therapeutic use and is commonly supplied by research reagent manufacturers like Bio X Cell for in vivo studies.
