Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-CXCL5 neutralizing monoclonal antibody is a therapeutic agent designed to target and neutralize C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 5 (CXCL5), a pro-inflammatory chemokine that acts through the CXCR2 receptor. CXCL5 is involved in neutrophil chemotaxis, inflammation, and tissue remodeling, and its upregulation is associated with diabetic kidney disease (DKD), vascular complications of diabetes, and various cancers. In preclinical models of diabetic kidney disease, treatment with an anti-CXCL5 neutralizing antibody has been shown to improve renal function, reduce urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratios, and attenuate glomerular hypertrophy, glomerulosclerosis, and renal fibrosis.
