Overview

An anti-CXCR2 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and inhibit the C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2), a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed on neutrophils. CXCR2 plays a critical role in the recruitment of neutrophils to sites of inflammation in response to chemokines such as CXCL1, CXCL2, and CXCL8 (IL-8). By blocking these interactions, anti-CXCR2 antibodies can reduce inflammatory cell infiltration and tissue damage. Preclinical research, including studies in mycoplasma superantigen-driven autoimmune arthritis models, has shown that targeting CXCR2, especially in combination with IL-17 inhibition, can significantly alleviate joint inflammation and disease progression by reducing leukocyte infiltration and the expression of pro-inflammatory chemokines in joint tissues.
