Overview

The anti-EG-1 polyclonal antibody is an experimental therapeutic agent designed to target Endothelial Gene-1 (EG-1), a protein that is significantly overexpressed in human breast cancer tissues and associated with increased cellular proliferation. By binding to endogenous EG-1, the antibody inhibits its oncogenic signaling, leading to reduced growth in both estrogen receptor (ER)-positive (e.g., MCF-7) and ER-negative (e.g., MDA-MB-231) breast cancer cell lines. In vivo studies using mouse xenograft models have demonstrated that administration of this polyclonal antibody results in a significant reduction in tumor volume. Additionally, EG-1 has been identified as a potential biomarker, as it is detectable in the serum and urine of breast cancer patients, supporting its development as both a therapeutic target and a diagnostic tool.
