Overview

anti-EPCAM CAR-T is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM), a transmembrane glycoprotein frequently overexpressed in various epithelial malignancies, including liver, colorectal, and gastric cancers. The therapy involves the ex vivo genetic modification of a patient's own T cells (autologous) to express a CAR construct that specifically recognizes the extracellular domain of EpCAM. Upon re-infusion, these engineered T cells bind to EpCAM-expressing tumor cells, triggering T-cell activation, proliferation, and subsequent tumor cell lysis. Sinobioway Cell Therapy is a primary developer investigating this modality, particularly in Phase 2 trials for patients with relapsed or refractory liver cancer, to evaluate its efficacy, safety, and persistence in the body.
