Overview

Anti-Escherichia coli recombinant antibodies are a class of complement-activating recombinant antibodies under development for potential passive immunotherapy against nosocomial bloodstream infections and sepsis. Developed through the TARAME pre-pilot translational study at Erasmus MC (Universitair Medisch Centrum Rotterdam), this program aims to identify, characterize, and clone targeted antibacterial antibodies from adult patients with active sepsis and positive blood cultures for Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. By isolating and cloning these naturally occurring, complement-activating antibodies, researchers hope to establish a platform for passive immunotherapy to combat multi-drug resistant nosocomial bloodstream infections.
