Overview

Anti-FAP monoclonal antibody F19-I-131 is a radiolabeled murine monoclonal antibody directed against fibroblast activation protein (FAP), a cell-surface glycoprotein that is highly expressed on reactive stromal fibroblasts of epithelial cancers but not present in most normal tissues. It is composed of the monoclonal antibody F19 labeled with the radioactive isotope iodine-131. The antibody specifically targets FAP-positive tumor stromal fibroblasts, which are interposed between tumor capillaries and malignant epithelial cells in more than 95% of primary and metastatic colorectal carcinomas. This selective targeting allows for imaging of colorectal carcinoma lesions as small as 1 cm in diameter. The optimal time for tumor imaging is 3 to 5 days after administration.
