anti-fel-d1 igy

Anti-Fel d1 IgY is a preparation of **immunoglobulin Y (IgY) antibodies** derived from the eggs of hens immunized with **Fel d1**, the major cat allergen. These IgY antibodies specifically bind to Fel d1 in the saliva of cats. When incorporated as an ingredient in cat food, anti-Fel d1 IgY binds and neutralizes Fel d1 in the oral cavity, thereby reducing active Fel d1 on the cat's haircoat (spread during grooming) and decreasing environmental allergen load. The mechanism is not direct immunomodulation in cats or humans, but physical blockade of the allergen, preventing it from binding human IgE and triggering allergic reactions. This strategy offers a novel dietary approach to reduce exposure to cat allergen, benefitting individuals allergic to cats.
