Drug intelligence / Profile preview
anti-galectin-3 Fab (also known as PASylated anti-galectin-3 Fab) is a PASylated humanized monoclonal antibody Fab fragment developed by XL-protein in collaboration with academic partners at the Technical University of Munich. It is designed as an immuno-positron emission tomography (immunoPET) imaging tracer targeting galectin-3 (Gal3), a beta-galactoside-binding lectin that is exclusively overexpressed in malignant thyroid tissues. By utilizing XL-protein's proprietary PASylation technology—which involves genetic fusion with a conformationally disordered polypeptide sequence of Pro, Ala, and Ser—the tracer's plasma half-life is optimized to achieve high-contrast tumor imaging with rapid blood clearance. Preclinically, the Fab fragment has been conjugated with deferoxamine (Dfo) and radiolabeled with zirconium-89 (89Zr) for the sensitive and specific PET/CT imaging of thyroid cancer.
