Anti-gC1qR monoclonal antibody refers to a class of experimental therapeutic antibodies targeting gC1qR (also known as C1QBP, HABP1, or p32), a multifunctional protein overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. The most prominent candidate, clone 60.11, binds to the C1q-binding domain of gC1qR, thereby inhibiting its interaction with C1q and other ligands. This blockade suppresses tumor progression by inducing apoptosis, decreasing angiogenesis, and inhibiting cell migration and metastasis through the inactivation of receptor tyrosine kinases and focal adhesion kinase (FAK). Preclinical research, primarily led by investigators at Stony Brook University, has demonstrated efficacy in models of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
