Anti-GD2-CAR engineered T cells are a type of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the GD2 ganglioside, a tumor antigen found on various solid tumors, including neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma, and some other sarcomas. The specific construct mentioned is a 3rd generation anti-GD2-CAR (GD2-CAR.OX40.28.z.ICD9) which incorporates a suicide switch (ICD9) that can be activated by the small molecule AP1903 to induce cell death in case of untoward toxicity. This therapy involves engineering a patient's own T cells to express the anti-GD2 CAR, which then enables them to recognize and kill GD2-positive cancer cells.
