Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Band Therapeutics (also known as Guardian Therapeutics) is developing an anti-GPC3 aptamer for the treatment of various cancers. Glypican-3 (GPC3) is a cell-surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan that is significantly overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma and other solid tumors, while remaining largely absent in healthy adult tissues, making it a highly specific target for oncology. This therapeutic aptamer is designed to bind GPC3 on the surface of tumor cells. The program is currently in the early stages of development, specifically lead optimization or preclinical studies, as part of the company's broader portfolio of aptamer-based therapeutics.
