Anti-GPRC5D CAR-T is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member D (GPRC5D), a protein highly expressed on multiple myeloma cells. This therapy involves genetically modifying a patient's T cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes and binds to GPRC5D on tumor cells. This binding activates the T cells, leading to their proliferation and subsequent killing of the GPRC5D-expressing multiple myeloma cells. It is currently under development for the treatment of relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma, particularly in patients who have progressed after prior anti-B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) CAR-T cell therapies. The therapy aims to provide a novel treatment option by targeting GPRC5D, which has limited expression in normal tissues, thereby minimizing off-tumor effects.
