Overview

Anti-Gr-1 refers to a **rat monoclonal antibody (clone RB6-8C5)** that recognizes the murine Gr-1 antigen (also known as Ly6G/Ly6C), a 21-25 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked cell surface protein from the Ly-6 family. The antibody binds strongly to Ly6G and weakly to Ly6C, which are expressed on granulocytes, neutrophils, and—to a lesser extent—on monocytes and macrophages. **Anti-Gr-1 is used in preclinical mouse studies for depleting Gr-1+ myeloid cells (mainly neutrophils and subsets of myeloid-derived suppressor cells), to study the role of these cells in tumor immunity, autoimmunity, and inflammation.** The antibody does not target a human protein, is not an approved therapeutic, and is used strictly for research. Its mechanism involves antibody-mediated depletion of target cell populations via complement or Fc-mediated effector functions.
